Navigating Your Master's in AI Application: Deadlines, Requirements, and What to Expect

Thinking about diving into the world of Artificial Intelligence with a Master's degree? It's an exciting path, and getting your application right is the first crucial step. Let's break down what you need to know for the upcoming August 2026 intake.

Understanding the Application Rounds

The program offers a couple of key deadlines, and choosing the right one for you is important. For the August 2026 start, there are two main rounds to consider.

Round #1: The Early Bird Advantage (December 1, 2025)

This deadline is primarily for those who have already completed their bachelor's degree. If you're in this category and want to get your admission decision as early as possible, this is your window. Submitting by December 1st means you'll hear back by the end of January. It's worth noting that while you get an earlier notification, there isn't a special academic advantage to applying this early; it's more about peace of mind and planning.

What do you need to have ready for this round? You'll need your completed application form, two recommendation letters, your official bachelor's degree transcript or evaluation report, and any official test scores if they're applicable to your situation.

Round #2: The Popular Choice (January 10, 2026)

This is often the most popular deadline, and for good reason. It's incredibly flexible. If you're still working on your bachelor's degree and your fall semester grades will be on your transcript, this is the round for you. It's also perfect if you didn't quite make the December 1st deadline but still want to be considered, or if you simply don't need an early decision.

For our international friends, this January 10th deadline is especially important. Submitting by then gives you a much-needed head start on the immigration process, including applying for your I-20 and securing your visa appointments, should you be admitted and choose to enroll.

The submission requirements for Round #2 are the same as Round #1: application form, two recommendations, official transcript/evaluation report, and official test scores (if applicable). Decisions for this round typically come out by mid-March.

What Happens After the Deadlines?

Don't despair if you miss the official deadlines! The program often continues to accept applications as long as there's space in the incoming class. If you're looking to apply after January 10th, it's best to reach out directly to the Office of Admissions. However, keep in mind that applying late might affect your chances for certain competitive scholarships and fellowships, as these are often awarded on a limited basis and applications received after January 10th might not be included in the initial selection process.

The application system officially closes for the August 2026 cohort on June 15, 2026.

How to Actually Submit

Regardless of which deadline you aim for, the submission process involves a few key steps:

  • Filling out the online application form with all the required details.
  • Uploading your essay and résumé.
  • Registering your recommenders by providing their names and email addresses.
  • Entering your test dates and registration numbers for any standardized tests you're taking.

Your application will only be reviewed once all these materials are in.
